If you want to know how it ticks, moves or works…you ask Terry.
‘Tickles’ is the knowledge bank behind our general Merchandise and Animal Health…and has been so in the Swan Hill region since we had an unsealed main street…or so it seems.
Starting in January 1969 at Dalgety’s after he finished school at Charlton, he moved around through the branches to Bendigo, Shepparton, Nathalia, Deniliquin before finally landing in Swan Hill.
‘Tickles’ was the merchandise mainstay at Dalgety’s Swan Hill until 1996, when he was approached by Ian Runciman and moved across to join what was then Brady & Runciman and the team of Ripper, Curly and Cheree around in Nyah Road.
Tezza played a bit of school footy, and has the distinguished honour of being the leading goal kicker and just missing the Best & Fairest at Ouyen when he was a mere kid. It is worth noting that he only played half a season, the family moving to Charlton mid-way through the season. In summer he swatted furry tennis balls and mosquitoes with equal fervour.
Those that know Terry know his knowledge and love of horses. ‘Tickles’ has been involved in them all his life; his family and friends all had horses…so it was only natural that he took to them too. This pursuit has provided Tezza with a massive list of friends and contacts throughout Victoria, New South Wales and the industry in general.
While he’s been around for longer than most, he’s still learning and putting it into practice helping our clients. There’s no talk of retirement, for as his lovely wife Lyn says “…as long as he’s got a farm and horses, he can’t retire…”
Terry loves working with the people in and around the rural industry, the companionship and conversations that we can all have with genuine well-grounded people. His love of and knowledge of rural products is astounding, and if he’s ever stumped on something…he’s got the contacts to find it out for you.
