It was inevitable that John would end up being a Stock Agent. His father and grandfather both worked as Stock Agents for Dalgety’s, so it was fate that ‘Tommy’ would end up chasing livestock around the country.
Growing up on the move following his father through places like St Arnaud, Natimuk, Ouyen, Ballarat and Bendigo, John left school in 1987 to become the booking clerk in Bendigo for two years.
From there he worked in St Arnaud for two years to end up in Kerang from 1991, firstly for VPC as Branch Manager to 1997 and then for Elders as Branch Manager up to 2001. From Kerang he moved to Swan Hill as Branch Manager up to 2007 where he was ‘poached’ by Joe O’Reilly to come over to BR&C Agents.
Playing a bit of footy through the winter in his younger days, a couple of seconds awards in his closet to show for it, and zipped around on top of the water over summer as an ‘inland surfie’ behind as fast a boat as he could find. Also not too shy on a motorbike or pulling a good fish out of the river nowadays…Tommy relaxes when he can with his wonderful family.
Tommy prides himself on being an auctioneer with a difference, knowing the value of stock and being able to draft for quality results. Also by being able to have a sideways look at life and share in a laugh with his clients or workmates Tommy is a good man to have around when you are looking to discuss livestock and the best way to benefit your business.
