Matt attended St Marys Primary School and then moved his backpack and lunch box to the Swan Hill College for secondary schooling. While he was developing as an adult he gravitated towards the ‘hands-on’ subjects like Engineering and Agriculture.
Matt played a bit of footy for the Swan Hill Football Club up through the juniors and into the Colts before a pair of ‘sooky’ ankles forced a highly promising career into mothballs. Outside of footy he kept himself busy with camping, fishing and nearly anything he get up to outdoors.
It was during this time that he chose to do his work experience at BR&C, both in Merchandise/Agronomy and Livestock. He impressed us with his willingness to learn and high work ethic, finding things to do when it became quiet through the day like sweeping floors and packing shelves.
After he finished his secondary stint at the college he enrolled in Longerenong Agricultural College, loving the broad range of subjects that were relevant to the Agricultural industry.
Funnily enough when he had to find somewhere to do work placement… he popped up like a bad penny…back at BR&C again. The same Matty…the same high work ethic…the same intent to learn.
At this point Matt experienced one of life’s dilemmas…he loved Agronomy and the Agricultural Sciences, but he also loved the livestock side of things…and he found that he couldn’t decide what to study in his next year. Very wisely…at least that is what we are saying…he came and asked us for advice and, due to one of our many wonderful suggestions… ended taking a year off.
Now Matt is working for us as a Trainee Livestock Agent…and it appears that he couldn’t be happier to be here…and secretly we couldn’t be happier to have finally grabbed him.
